Gary-based Flourish Church is fundraising to open the Flourish Community Hub by summer.

The Flourish Community Hub initiative is dedicated to transforming the Gary community. The Hub will collaborate with other organizations to provide social services. It will focus on youth mentorship, mental health services, job creation and basic needs assistance.

“Despite its struggles, Gary is a resilient community with a rich history, full of people committed to seeing it thrive again,” said Raydia Martin, Flourish Community Hub executive director, in a press release. “The Flourish Community Hub is a symbol of this collective commitment – a place where community members, service organizations, and local businesses pool their skills, experience and resources to be a transformative force in this city.”

The Hub will provide a central location for Gary’s social service organizations to connect and provide services. The church hopes the Hub will help build relationships between service providers and facilitate efficiency in services and funding.

The Hub will offer a co-working space for professionals who need a consistent place to work. The space will also provide childcare for working parents.

“Our community hub will be the first of its kind in the city of Gary, a model for collaboration and large-scale impact that we hope will spread like wildfire throughout the city,” Pastor Dexter Harris said.

The Flourish Community Hub will be housed within the 20,000-square-foot building owned by Flourish Church. The Hub is scheduled to launch this summer.

Flourish Church is fundraising for support to make this vision a reality. More information about the Hub is available here.
