Jackie Thomas always wanted to run her own business. And the timing just seemed right, so Sept. 12 she launched South Shore Public Relations.
“I was in a position where I was ready to climb to the next rung of the career ladder, but going out on my own appealed more,” Thomas said in an email.
Thomas said she enjoyed helping others build their businesses but decided she wanted to be in charge of her own success.
“From helping my husband build his business into the largest of its kind globally, to leading crisis communications though the global pandemic for a global organization to more recently throwing a brand launch party with a major celebrity endorsement this past year, I've successfully completed these goals,” she said.
Thomas has 15 years of public relations experience for companies such as NIPSCO, the Professional Convention Management Association, OneParish and De Rigo Rem, an eyewear manufacturer.
The Duneland Chamber of Commerce assisted in the launch at the (219) Taproom, 109 S. 3rd St., in Chesterton.
She said people will be the heart of her new business.
“My goal for South Shore PR is to build an agency that puts people first, is fair, honest and has integrity,” she said. “I want this agency to serve the needs of our clients with passion.”
Thomas earned a masters degree in global strategic communications from Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University.
South Shore Public Relations offers public relations, communications plans and marketing.
