Evexia Salt Cave & Spa in Chesterton celebrated the opening of their spa May 18 with the Duneland Chamber of Commerce.

Kimberly Franklin opened Evexia Salt Cave in August 2020. She said on her website that she found relief from a sinus infection from a salt cave in Naperville, Illinois, which led to research about the health benefits of halotherapy.

As a result, she decided to open Evexia Salt Cave at 1583 S. Calumet Road. She had a 440-square-foot manmade cave built to accommodate the 22,000 pounds of imported pink Himalayan salt.

Evexia also offers special events, including yoga, ionic foot detox and sound therapy.
