The Duneland Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Blue Moon Vintage Market's move to a Westville farm.

The chamber is hosting a ribbon cutting from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. April 27 at the market, 11193 W. Division Road.

Vicki and Jen Kerry, a mother-daughter team, started the market in 2015 after discovering their passion for finding vintage items at flea markets, auctions and garage sales. The market began as a monthly event in Three Oaks, Michigan.

“We have been traveling together since 2013 looking for interesting and fun items to sell at their market,” their website said. “We started by going to garage sales, auctions and grabbing those items off the side of the road that you slam on the breaks to pull over and grab … who doesn’t get excited when they see this?”

But after a difficult 2020, they decided to build the market on their farm, which also is the home of the nonprofit rescue Elsa's Acres Inc. They have 28 rescue animals on the 80-acre farm, including horses, pigs, goats, geese, dogs and cats.

Jen's dad, Roger, made the move possible. His skills as an ironworker in Northwest Indiana and as a business owner came in handy when he built the 5,500-square-foot building to accommodate the market. The new location officially opened in May 2022.

The market is open on Saturdays and also offers space for special events.

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce serves the towns of Beverly Shores, Burns Harbor, Chesterton, Dune Acres and Porter.
