Shive-Hattery buys Arizona-based architecture firm

Shive-Hattery has acquired WSM Architects Inc., a 13-person architecture firm in Tucson, Arizona.

The acquisition expands Shive-Hattery to the Southwestern U.S. and enhances its design capabilities in the corporate workplace, government, education and healthcare markets. WSM Architects will operate under its current name but as a division of Shive-Hattery Inc.

The Iowa-based architecture and engineering firm operates in 12 states including Indiana where it has an office in Valparaiso.

“Shive-Hattery and WSM Architects are both built on a foundation of strong client service,” said Jennifer Bennett, president of Shive-Hattery. “We remain steadfast in providing a continuity in service with the best depth of talent from across our design firm.”

Bennett said remote work technology has made it possible for her firm to customize the best team for each client, regardless of whether the designers are located in the Midwest or Southwest.

Shive-Hattery is a 450-person architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with design offices in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
