A new partnership between the state of Indiana and 180 Skills, a provider of online training programs, will provide 100,000 Hoosiers with free training to upgrade their skills.
People who enroll can access an online library of assorted training programs, designed to improve general employability skills applicable across job sectors or build knowledge to enter Indiana’s manufacturing sector, the state said.
The 180 Skills partnership is part of Indiana’s Rapid Recovery for a Better Future initiative led by the Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Workforce Cabinet.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is assisting individuals as well as employers enroll their workers in the training programs through its Work One Centers and through Adult Education providers across the state.
Self-service enrollment for individuals interested in the programs is available by visiting www.yournextstepin.org.
“The Indiana Department of Workforce Development stands ready to continue to assist Hoosiers during these challenging times,” said DWD Commissioner Fred Payne. “One of the most powerful tools to help people recover during times like this is education and training that leads them on a pathway to success.”
Courses range from general employability skills applicable across job sectors, including acing a job interview, mastering Microsoft Office products, and improving communication skills, to advanced courses in manufacturing, which can lead to earning industry-recognized credentials.
Unemployed Indiana residents or state residents impacted by COVID-19 are eligible to enroll online at the Indiana Your Next Step website. Employers interested in signing up employees for the 180 Skills program can visit the 180 Skills website.
