Defense spending creates 56,000 Indiana jobs

CRANE, Ind. – The latest number from the U.S. Defense Department shows spending in Indiana is $4.4 billion and contributed 56,000 jobs to the state.

Most of the jobs are at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex.

Other spending is directed to major contractors, including $1.1 billion to AM General in Mishawaka. Other major contractors in the state are Rolls-Royce Group in Indianapolis and Raytheon in Fort Wayne.
