The upgraded and expanded Franciscan Beacon Hospital in La Porte is on track for construction to be finished by early 2020.

Work is progressing on the hospital, a collaborative effort with Beacon Health System in South Bend.

The $21.6 million project broke ground in fall 2018. Tonn and Blank Construction is leading the project and expects construction to be completed by spring 2020.

Franciscan Beacon Hospital at 900 I St. will cover 28,000 square feet of new construction and include about 19,000-square-feet of renovated space. The hospital will feature a full-service, 10-bed emergency department, eight inpatient beds, laboratory services and telehealth connectivity, and imaging and diagnostic equipment.

Franciscan also recently dedicated the Legacy Hills Health Center at 309 W. Johnson Road in La Porte. The center is the newest location for the Franciscan Physician Network.
