Enbridge Strengthens PNW Partnership

Enbridge Strengthens PNW PartnershipHAMMOND and WESTVILLE – Enbridge is expanding its partnership with Purdue University Northwest (PNW) through a $10,000 charitable commitment to create the student Model Pipeline Competition.

Enbridge’s Great Lakes Region Director John Gauderman presented the gift to the university at the Hammond Campus. Nearly 80 PNW College of Engineering students attended the event in anticipation of learning the spring 2018 design competition details and expectations.

“We’re proud to once again be partnering with Purdue Northwest on initiatives that benefit their students and the northwest Indiana community. What made this experience even more special is that we got to engage students directly to discuss how engineering concepts they learned in class apply to the energy infrastructure that is around us and that we rely on every day,” said Gauderman.

This is a beneficial opportunity for PNW students, noted Professor of Mechanical Engineering George Nnanna. “This provides an experiential learning opportunity for our students to design and fabricate a model of a real-world engineering system. Integration of this project into our fluid mechanics course allows our students to learn first-hand from practicing engineers from a premier Energy company.”

Supporting engineering education
Enbridge continues to support PNW engineering education through annual student scholarships. The corporation is also a named sponsor of the annual PNW Enbridge Summer Engineering Camp for area middle school and high school students.
