SOUTH BEND – Rum Village Nature Center begins the Fall Sunday Programming of nature-related activities on Sunday, September 10 at 2 p.m. Interested individuals of all ages can get close to nature this fall with free programs.
Programs occur every Sunday at 2 p.m. on the following dates:
September 17: Log Exploration: Old logs are teeming with life. We’ll venture into the woods and see all the critters that call dead trees home.
September 24: Fall Scavenger Hunt: We will have a list of things we’ll be searching for as we hike the Rum Village trails. Bring out the family and see if we can find all of these cool items.
October 1: Live Animal Learning: There’s nothing like seeing live animals up-close and personal. Meet a snake, a turtle or two, and a salamander in the nature center auditorium.
October 8: South Bend/Elkhart Audubon Society Meeting & Presentation: The presentation will begin at the conclusion of the chapter meeting (approximately 2:15 p.m.)
October 15: Tree I.D.: We’re lucky to have nearly 30 species of trees living in Rum Village Park. As we hike the trails, we’ll look at and identify these long-lived and majestic plants.
October 22: Simply Autumn: Join us as we take a stroll through the autumn woods to enjoy the changing colors.
October 29: Simply Autumn 2: Did you miss last week’s hike through the woods? No problem! Join us and see the beautiful leaf coloration that comes but once a year.
November 5: A Time to Prepare: Let’s see what animals and plants are preparing for winter on this hike through the Rum Village Woods.
