June 2, 2010, Michigan City, IN – On Friday, May 14, 2010, Tonn and Blank Construction was presented with the Construction Advancement Foundation’s “2009/2010 Project of the Year” award for its role as construction manager for the Valparaiso Family YMCA, Valparaiso, Indiana.

“We approached this project from both an owner’s and contractor’s point of view,” explained Brien Delich, Tonn and Blank’s Project Manager on the project. “With initial estimates coming in above the set capital budget, we provided a list of alternative design options without sacrificing quality. From there we brought the project in under budget and on time.”
The Valparaiso Family YMCA is a new 83,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center which includes multiple gymnasiums and pools, an indoor walking/running track creating a second floor mezzanine level, a large social area to encourage positive interaction, dedicated classrooms and a dance center.

They have been proactive in solving issues to assure the project remained on schedule, with excellent communication and follow up.
