Music Village Open House

SOUTH BEND – The Music Village, a South Bend, Ind. based musical arts center and school, will host an open house for the general public on Friday, November 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its new location in downtown South Bend, TMV Executive Director Josh Aerie announced on Monday.

The open house will feature live music, activities for children, and refreshments, including a cash bar managed by Beer4Good sponsor South Bend Brew Werks. Visitors will be invited to tour the new facility and see initial architectural renderings of what the space will look like post-renovation.

The event will also feature a new musical composition performed by Aerie. During this year’s Art Beat event, paper music notes were sold to individuals who then placed them wherever they chose on an oversized, 100-foot long music staff wrapped around the front of the new TMV location. Aerie, an accomplished conductor and cellist, will play the public “composition” during the open house on his cello.

The Music Village finalized a lease agreement with the St. Joseph County Public Library for the new location at 301 South Michigan Street in late September. TMV will share adjacent facilities with the library and benefit from its location on the library’s soon-to-be remodeled campus.

To fund the relocation and build-out of the new facility, The Music Village has embarked on a multi-faceted fundraising campaign called Onward and Upward. For more information about the campaign and ways to be involved with TMV’s relocation, visit: www.themusicvillage-onwardandupward.org

“With the public’s help, we’ll create a vibrant, inviting community musical arts center and school, designed to better serve our student and participant musicians and enhance downtown South Bend’s arts and cultural scene,” Aerie said.
