VAPARAISO – Taltree Arboretum & Gardens is pleased to announce the selection of Stephanie Blackstock as its next Executive Director. Blackstock has been with Taltree since 2010 serving in a number of capacities, most recently as Interim Executive Director since the resignation of Alexis Faust in January, 2015.
“The board voted unanimously to make Stephanie our Interim Executive Director this past winter, and in the months she held that post, she showed great skill and instilled confidence in me and the board. It has been a job well done, and we expect great things from her as she leads Taltree in the time to come,” said Damien Gabis, Founder and Board President, Taltree Arboretum & Gardens.
Blackstock’s career has always been in non-profits; she began her work with the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources.
“It has been an honor to serve as the Interim Executive Director of Taltree, and I’m humbled and excited by the confidence the board has placed in me for the future. The future of Taltree is bright, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” said Blackstock.
Taltree Arboretum & Gardens is 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to preserving the environment, educating the public, and conserving a natural space for guests to enjoy. Situated on a beautiful 330-acre oak preserve of formal gardens, and restored woodlands, wetlands, and prairie, Taltree hosts a variety of public classes, exhibits, and events.
