“Live Fire” Training at South Bend International Airport

SOUTH BEND — The annual “Live Fire” training exercises will be conducted at South Bend International Airport (SBN) for members of the St. Joseph County Airport Authority’s Department of Public Safety on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  The training will take place at SBN’s “Live Fire” Training Facility located near the northwest corner of the airfield.

The burns and exercises allow Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) to practice their firefighting skills for combatting large flammable liquid fuel fires. The annual training is also a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirement for certificated airports under FAR Part 139.
