The goal of ARISE is to ensure that underserved youth like Eric, and their families receive the support, opportunities and resources necessary to transcend their circumstances and reach their potential.
Two 2014 ARISE initiatives include: Creative Arts Entrepreneurship Program (CAEP) and IMAGINE Gary Community Service Project. CAEP aims to provide entrepreneurship training to 900 underserved youth in grades 9th to 12th who are at risk of educational failure, teen pregnancy, truancy and juvenile delinquency. CAEP encourages youth to dream beyond their current circumstances and reach their full potential; while equipping them with skills to sustain a happy, healthy, successful life. Youth can earn both high school and college credit through the program. The cost per student for CAEP is $5,626.
IMAGINE Gary Creative Arts Community Service Project will ensure youth participation in a set of developing art-centered grassroots placemaking efforts that will aid the revitalization of Gary through the support and development of spaces that will offer professional networking opportunities, mentoring, and hands-on training in entrepreneurship and art. The total projected cost for IMAGINE Gary is $85,000.
