INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA), in cooperation with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), is promoting Manufacturing Day 2016. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
The IMA is proud to endorse Manufacturing Day 2016 in cooperation with other organizations throughout the country. Manufacturing Day plays a pivotal role in communicating the value and importance of manufacturing to our economy, as well as our ability to attract new talent into the workforce,” said Indiana Manufacturers Association President/CEO Brian Burton. Burton continued, “The IMA worked with Governor Pence's office in drafting an Executive Order Proclamation designating October 7th as Manufacturing Day in Indiana.”
Although Manufacturing Day officially occurs on the first Friday in October—this year is Oct 7, 2016—any day can be a Manufacturing Day. Companies and community organizations plan their events on the date that works best for them.
Manufacturing Day was designed to expand knowledge about and improve general public perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the U.S. economy. Manufacturing Day is for students, parents, educators, media, customers, suppliers, and the community at large. Visitors will learn about real career opportunities, training, and resources. In addition, manufacturers will learn about business improvement resources and services delivered through manufacturing extension partnerships.
Many events will be taking place throughout Indiana. A complete list is available by clicking here. You can follow the events on Twitter using the the hashtag #MFGDAY16.
