Hobart-based Powers Health and ShiftMed are working together to expand nursing support at Community Hospital in Munster.
Powers Health will start delivering On-Demand nursing support and work opportunities for local nurses through ShiftMed’s Workforce Platform.
ShiftMed’s platform provides scheduling and a network of credentialed health care professionals. Powers Health can use On-Demand staff to support existing teams. The platform also provides local nurses with the opportunity to pick up per diem shifts at Community Hospital.
“We are dedicated to delivering compassionate care to our communities by combining innovative workforce management technology with a patient-centered approach,” said Ronda McKay, Powers Health Community Hospital VP patient care services, in a press release.
McKay said Powers Health is launching the ShiftMed On-Demand platform at Community Hospital but has plans to expand to other facilities in the future.
“The support provided by ShiftMed extends beyond full-time and On-Demand staff — it ultimately enhances patient outcomes and the overall care experience,” Todd Walrath, ShiftMed CEO and founder, said. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact our platform will have on this community and the future growth of our partnership.”
The ShiftMed Workforce Management Platform aims to help health care facilities optimize shift fulfillment. By routing order flow to internal teams and on demand float pools, ShiftMed minimizes contract labor. The platform is integrated with existing HR and scheduling systems.
Powers Health operates Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point and Hartsfield Village, a continuing care retirement community in Munster. The health care system has a network of outpatient, surgical and rehabilitation centers, physician and behavioral health practices and a cancer support center.
