Retired physician Dr. Steve Simpson has entered a new chapter as owner of the Shelby Street Business Center.

Shelby Street Business Center is in the Miller Beach community at 1001 Shelby Street in Gary. The facility offers office space and amenities to business owners and professionals.

“There are lots of business owners in this area who simply need a space to conduct business, host meetings and elevate their brands,” Simpson said in a press release. “The Shelby Street Business Center offers great amenities in a scenic area at affordable rates.”

The facility has four office spaces and a conference room for hosting meetings and teleconferences. There is also a kitchenette, reception area and individual mailboxes for tenants.

Nonprofit organization co-founder Leslie Green was one of the first tenants. Green has been in the space for just over six weeks.

“This business center has everything I need to get my work done,” Green said. “It's quiet, safe and located in a beautiful environment.”

Tenants have access to the building 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., along with the reception desk, phone line, internet, fax machine, video conferencing and printer. Offices can be leased in 3-month or more increments, and conference rooms are available for reservations on a first-come, first-served basis.
