Mark Keen was one of three Ports of Indiana new hires.

He will be the first accountant at the Burns Harbor port in a long time.

The two other new hires, Tim Barnett and Brad Mills, are veteran engineers who will work in the company’s Mount Vernon and Indianapolis offices. It marks the first time in many years that Ports of Indiana will have accounting and engineering roles based at the ports.

“We’re thrilled to welcome three individuals of Brad, Tim and Mark’s caliber,” said Jody Peacock, Ports of Indiana CEO, in a press release. “We’re also excited about having key engineering and financial positions back at our ports to foster active engagement with our operations, customers and local communities.”

Keen will serve as the senior accountant at the Burns Harbor port in Northwest Indiana. He is a CPA certified by the Indiana Board of Accountancy and a Certified Examiner In-Charge licensed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.

Prior to joining Ports of Indiana, Keen served as senior bank examiner for the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He previously worked as a senior accountant for Centier Bank in Merrillville. Keen earned a master’s degree in accountancy from Western Governors University.

Ports of Indiana is a statewide port authority. They operate three ports on the Ohio River and Lake Michigan. Ports of Indiana was established in 1961 to serve as a resource for maritime issues, trade and logistics.
