The Indiana Bar Foundation awarded $4.4 million to 12 Indiana organizations, including the Metro Legal Clinic in Merrillville.
The grants were awarded to organizations that provide civil legal assistance to low-income residents in Indiana.
“I am thrilled to distribute these funds to organizations dedicated to supporting Hoosiers statewide and to help fund the education of tomorrow's leaders,” said Charles Dunlap, president and CEO of the Indiana Bar Foundation, in a press release. “Continually supporting the civil legal assistance community is a cornerstone of the foundation’s mission.”
Other organizations that received funds include:

- Child Advocates
- Disability Legal Services of Indiana
- Indiana Legal Services Inc.
- Indianapolis Legal Aid Society Inc.
- Legal Aid Corp. of Tippecanoe County
- Legal Aid Society of Evansville
- Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic
- Pro Bono Indiana
- Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana Inc.
- Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission Inc.
The Center for Victim and Human Rights Corp., Child Advocates, Indiana Disability Rights and Pro Bono Indiana are all statewide organizations.
The Indiana Bar Foundation is committed to improving civic education and legal assistance. The Metro Legal Clinic offers pro bono civil legal advice to residents wo do not have access consultations about guardianships, child custody, debt, divorce, driving, among other topics.
