The Crown Point Rotary Club recently announced that Gary Johnson, representing the Calumet Heritage Area, will speak at its June 5 meeting.
Johnson will share information about the cultural and historical heritage of the Calumet region. As president of the Calumet Heritage Partnership, Johnson works to preserve and celebrate the area's natural and cultural resources.
A Gary native, Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and master’s degree in industrial administration from Purdue University. He worked in Ohio as chairman, president and CEO of an electronic materials producer.
Johnson returned to Northwest Indiana in 2012. He assumed the role of president at Mortar Net Solutions in Burns Harbor. Johnson has served on the boards of the Calumet Heritage Partnership, the Crisis Center in Gary and the Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest.
Johnson’s presentation will take place during the Crown Point Rotary Club’s weekly lunch meeting. The event will start at 12:10 p.m. June 5 at the Youche Country Club in Crown Point. Learn more here.

The Calumet Heritage Partnership is a bi-state organization, working in partnership with the Calumet Collaborative and the Field Museum to establish a Calumet Heritage Area. The organizations aim to bring people together across state lines to conserve natural and cultural heritage. The partners hope to improve recreational opportunities, promote regional arts, support economic development and create heritage-oriented educational programming.
