Purdue Federal Credit Union announced the promotion of Mathew Reed and James Whelan to vice president positions.
Reed was promoted to vice president of IT. Whelan was promoted to vice president of accounting and finance.
Reed previously served as assistant vice president of Purdue Federal’s IT business solutions team. In that role, Reed took ownership of the digital banking platform and enhanced the credit union’s data utilization across all business lines. He played a key role in the core system conversion that Purdue Federal underwent in 2023.
Reed joined Purdue Federal in 2016 as manager of the IT business solutions team. In 2018, he became the team’s assistant vice president. Reed started his career as a software engineer at Cook Research. He later transitioned into management, overseeing Cook Research’s data management team.
Reed earned a degree in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 2004. He earned his MBA from Purdue in 2011.
Whelan previously served as a treasury/finance manager at Purdue Federal. In his new role, Whelan will manage the credit union’s investment portfolios, working closely with the executive leadership team.
Whelan began his career at Purdue Federal in 2011 as a member consultant. He advanced to roles in the mortgage department, serving as a processor and secondary market specialist. Whelan held positions as a financial analyst and credit analyst before moving into management.
Whelan earned a degree in finance from Purdue University in 2011. He later earned his MBA from Purdue.
Whelan also serves as treasurer for United Way of Greater Lafayette.
