Munster-based Peoples Bank received the Explore Everyday community award from the Cedar Lake Redevelopment Commission for helping to revitalize the town.

The Explore Everyday award honors local businesses and entities that have played a role in making the town of Cedar Lake a better place to live, work and explore. Past winners have ranged from barbecue and pizza joints, grocery stores, fitness studios and tire suppliers.

Leslie Devine is the assistant vice president, banking center manager at Peoples Bank’s Cedar Lake Banking Center. The Cedar Lake Banking Center, housed in a modern-looking, efficient building near U.S. Route 30, opened in March 2022.

“This area, in general, has lately seen tremendous growth,” Devine said in a press release. “A few of our staff live in or near Cedar Lake, so coming in, we already had a small network of support to lay our foundation.”

Peoples Bank’s Cedar Lake banking center has helped to stimulate economic growth in the community with their products and services. They have also forged relationships with local businesses and nonprofits.

“We are so lucky to get to work in such a fresh, new office in the beautiful town of Cedar Lake,” Devine said. “Having a local presence and being able to work in such a positive environment connects us more closely to our communities, keeps morale high and helps us to stay focused on providing more personalized service to our customers.”

Peoples Bank is a locally managed community bank. Founded in 1910 in East Chicago, today Peoples Bank has banking centers throughout Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland.
