Michigan City-based Horizon Bank will close on Sept. 12 for its annual Horizon Cares Day.

Horizon Bank locations across Indiana and Michigan will close for the full day to volunteer in their local communities. About 900 advisors will volunteer at over 80 nonprofit organizations. They aim to make a difference in their communities.

The bank will also honor eight outstanding advisors with awards. The “Beyond Ordinary” Leadership Award recognizes those who lead with innovation and inspiration. The “Go Beyond” Community Service Award showcases those who have made a significant impact through their service.

This year marks the second year of Horizon Bank’s day of service. In 2023, the bank’s advisors volunteered over 2,600 hours to 85 organizations throughout Indiana and Michigan. Some of the organizations included Habitat for Humanity, United Way, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana and the Boys and Girls Club.

Horizon Bancorp Inc. is the holding company for Horizon Bank. Horizon Bank has over 70 locations in Indiana and Michigan. The bank has been in business for 150 years.
