Merrillville-based Centier Bank recently promoted Dakita Jones to vice president of community relations.

In her new role, Jones will oversee and develop the department’s philanthropic initiatives, corporate giving, financial education and volunteering. She also will serve as the liaison between Centier Gives, the bank’s philanthropic outreach program and organizations in the community.

“I believe that fostering care within our community begins with each one of us,” Jones said in a press release. “Service to others is ingrained in my identity, and I take pride in guiding a team of dedicated servant leaders whose purpose revolves around giving back. It is an honor to be associated with Centier, an organization committed to the mission of service.”

Jones joined Centier in 2003 as a bank teller. In 2004, she was promoted to assistant branch manager. Four years later, Jones became the branch manager at the bank’s midtown Gary office. She transferred to downtown Gary in 2015. Jones was named manager of community relations in 2022.

Jones has 20 years of experience in business development. She also has served in leadership roles for various community organizations. Jones earned bachelor's degrees in leadership supervision and information technology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
