Lake County Superior Court Judge Stephen Scheele will replace retiring Judge Terry Crone on the Indiana Court of Appeals.

“I’m proud to appoint Judge Scheele, a person with immense integrity and a lifetime of experience, to the Court of Appeals,” Gov. Eric Holcomb said in a press release. “Judge Scheele’s commitment to the law and equal justice will continue to serve his fellow Hoosiers with distinction as he joins the second highest bench in Indiana.”

Scheele became a judge for the Lake County Superior Court in 2019. He also was a magistrate for the Lake County Circuit Court.

Scheele earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver and his law degree from Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. He was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1997.

“My goal is to emulate the high respect earned by Judge Terry Crone,” Scheele said. “I pledge to always do my best in my service to our great Hoosier state, its judicial branch and citizens.”

The Indiana Court of Appeals will determine when Scheele will be sworn in.
