Firefighter Casey McClusky was recently promoted to battalion chief for the Hammond Fire Department.

In his new role, McClusky will lead a battalion of firefighters. He will also lead the incident command reporting to the assistant chief.

“I want to congratulate Casey on this accomplishment. He has served the city well and will continue to be an asset to the fire department and our residents,” Mayor Thomas McDermott said in a press release. “The city is proud of its full-time professional fire department and the men and women that keep our city safe every day.”

McClusky joined the Hammond Fire Department in September 2008. Prior to his promotion, he served the fire department as an engineer. McClusky currently holds multiple fire and EMS certifications.

“Casey is an outstanding firefighter and I know he is going to be an even better battalion chief,” Fire Chief Bernie Grisolia said. “We are excited to have him join us as part of the Hammond Fire Department’s chiefs.”
