NIPSCO hires Katie Eaton as public affairs manager

Katie Eaton's work in the Northwest Indiana community is renowned for her ability to create relationships. She will put those skills to good use at NIPSCO where she was named manager of public affairs and economic development.

“I am thrilled to begin this role with NIPSCO and grow in a career that will allow me to continue to support community initiatives, programs and development,” Eaton said in a press release. “I look forward to the many new relationships I will have the chance to build in my new professional capacity.”

As president of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, she built many relationships that helped develop a thriving economic engine.

Eaton also will lead NIPSCO's charitable giving efforts in Elkhart, La Porte, Marshall, Porter, Starke and St. Joseph counties. She is tasked with supporting new business investments and creating jobs in the Region.

Eaton replaces Denise Conlon, who is retiring from the company after 23 years.

“Katie is passionate about the community and has proven experience creating meaningful partnerships through her dedicated work experience,” said Rick Calinski, NIPSCO's director of public affairs and economic development. “I look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the communities she will now serve on behalf of NIPSCO.”

Eaton also served as the economic development manager at the Economic Development Corp. in Michigan City and a business services lead recruiter at the Center of Workforce Innovations.

Eaton earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and communication and a Master of Business Administration at Purdue University Northwest. She also earned a certificate in Nonprofit Management through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Organizational Management.

She also is active in the community, serving organizations such as the Economic Development Corp. in Michigan City, Vibrant Communities of La Porte County and Vibrant Communities of Michigan City.
