The School Town of Munster recently recognized four staff members for their volunteer work on a community mural project.
Christina Irvin, Melissa Efantis, Stephanie Middaugh and Jennifer Johnson worked alongside a group of volunteers on a town mural project. They contributed hours to the project over the summer months. The group cleaned, primed, added a base coat and painted the mural.
The mural is located at the corner of Ridge Road and Meadow Lane in Munster. It was organized in partnership with the Munster Police Department and Choice Community Council. The project focused on enhancing the local business district.
“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and effort shown by these staff members,” said Bret Heller, School Town of Munster superintendent, in a press release. “Their volunteerism and passion for art have made a significant impact on our community, and their contribution to this project reflects the spirit of service that defines the School Town of Munster.”
The mural was designed by local artist Carleen O'Connor Rivera. Terry and Patti Gibbs own the building on which the mural was painted. The Community Mural Project was initiated by the Choice Community Council. The council has organized programs and events in Munster for 30 years.
