The Department of Education awarded Calumet College of St. Joseph a $3 million grant.
The funding comes from the Department of Education’s Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans program. The program provides grants to expand educational opportunities for Hispanic students.
Calumet College of St. Joseph will receive the funds over five years to implement Camino al Eìxito: A GPS for Hispanic Student Success. The program aims to increase opportunities for Hispanic and low-income students in graduate programs. It will connect students to postgraduate opportunities by coordinating preparation, enrollment and support.
“I look forward to building on this initiative to continue to ensure that everyone in Northwest Indiana has the opportunity to obtain the education that they seek in order to thrive in our regional economy,” Rep. Frank Mrvan said in a press release.
Amy McCormack, Calumet College of St. Joseph president, said Calumet College of St. Joseph has offered graduate programs for over two decades.
“With support from the Department of Education, we can offer additional services to ensure our graduate students get individualized support to succeed,” McCormack said. “Expanding the reach of CCSJ and serving the region has never been more important.”
