Kim Olesker is the new president and CEO of the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce.
Olesker took the leadership role of the organization that serves East Chicago and Hammond on April 1.
She most recently was the executive director of the AKPsi Foundation, a professional business fraternity based in Noblesville. Before that she was the United Way of Porter County's president and CEO for seven years. The organization has since joined the United Way of Northwest Indiana.
“I have missed working and making a difference in Northwest Indiana, so the opportunity to work in the communities of Hammond and East Chicago was an exciting benefit of being selected to run the Lakeshore Chamber,” she said in a press release. “I look forward to networking and engagement to our businesses who call this area home and employ our families.”
Olesker began her career in nonprofits with the Alpha Xi Delta as its national housing director. She also ran the National Housing Corp.
Olesker graduated from the University of Nebraska of Omaha with a Bachelor of Science in journalism.
She was one of 12 United Way presidents chosen from 1,800 offices worldwide to participate in the organization's Executive Leadership Development Program at at Harvard and Deloitte universities.
She also earned a master's degree in nonprofit public administration from Capella University.
The Lakeshore and Crossroads chambers also further promote economic growth in the Region through the partnership of the Lake County Economic Alliance.
