The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) recognized 12 individuals and 12 employers from across the state at their annual WorkOne Achievement Awards Ceremony at the state house. Several key government representatives were there and Indy talk show host Abdul Hakim Shabazz served as master of ceremonies.
Northwest Indiana’s Galfab, Inc. out of Winamac was one of the recipients of the Employer Achievement Awards, recognized for their partnership with their local WorkOne on a successful on-the-job training pro-gram.
Walter Parris from East Chicago was a recipient of the WorkOne Individual Achievement Award. Parris was recognized for his perseverance and drive for the improvements he made in his life through WorkOne edu-cation and training programs he participated in, and the services he utilized to succeed.
