GRIFFITH – United Way Worldwide has honored Dominion with its Summit Award for impacting and strengthening local communities. Dominion owns and operates State Line Energy in Hammond.
“United Way applauds Dominion for its company-wide commitment to supporting local communities,” said Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of United Way Worldwide. “The company and its employees have put their energy and resources to good use and are improving lives.”
In 2010, Dominion granted $24 million in 14 states to environment, education, arts and culture and health and human services. Last year, Dominion employees volunteered 150,000 hours, up 20 percent from 2009.
In Northwest Indiana, State Line Energy contributed $52,671 to Lake Area United Way with a 63 percent employee participation rate and an average gift of $359.36.
