PITTSBURGH – U.S. Steel reported earnings of $101 million in the second quarter, down from $222 million one year ago. While the company reported a profit, it said earnings fell because of challenging economic conditions.
The company reported its steel shipments were down 1 percent from a year ago, with shipments remaining flat to customers in Europe.
