NEW YORK – U.S. Steel has reported third quarter profit of $22 million, compared with a $51 million loss one year ago. The company reported profits for two quarters in a row.
The steelmaker also report net income of 15 cents a share for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, compared with a loss of 35 cents a share last year. Revenue in the quarter was up 13 percent to $5.08 billion.
The company, based in Pittsburgh, operates an integrated mill in Gary. Gary Works is the company’s largest manufacturing complex and includes mills in East Chicago and Portage.
