GARY – The 19th annual fundraising gala for TradeWinds helped push the organization’s capital campaign to $1.4 million. The goal is $3.5 million, said CEO Jon Gold.

“We were delighted that we increased attendance over last year, enjoyed greater underwriting and brought in more dollars for building our fund. All in all, it was an unqualified success thanks to our sponsors and donors,” said Gold.

Five-year-old Lydia Shannon, daughter of Chris Hannon and Inga Lewis-Shannon, was recognized as 2012’s TradeWinds Child of the Year. As parents of a child with special needs, the Shannons have been bringing Lydia to TradeWinds for therapeutic and educational programs since she was 6 months old.

The Gala Committee was chaired by Lisa Tatina with help from Larry Alt, Jeff Ban, Mike Banas, Dana Booth, Gold, Jason Gregorec, Ryan Reithel, Crystal Sands, Angela Hemann and Connie Skozen.
