SOUTH BEND – Results of a study by Visit South Bend-Mishawaka shows that tourism in St. Joseph County in 2011 was worth $408 million.
While home football weekends for the University of Notre Dame are among the major attractions for visitors – some $60 million – the study showed that June, July and August were the busiest months for tourism.
The summer attractions include the county’s 11 museums, the Compton Ice Arena at the University of Notre Dame, the World Pulse Festival, the Studebaker International Driver’s Club annual meeting and the Youth on Parade event at Notre Dame, which includes the national baton twirling championship.
