INDIANAPOLIS – St. Mary’s College of South Bend has received first place in the Indiana CPA Society’s annual Case Study Competition. Valparaiso University was second and University of Southern Indiana third. In all, nine universities took part in the 11th annual competition.
The four-student teams had 10 days to submit written cases that offered recommendations on client retention for a fictitious CPA firm.
The first place team received $1,000 per student, second place $750 per student, and third place $500 per student.
The winning team from St. Mary’s was Allison Courtney, Maggie DePaola, Elizabeth Reed and Maureen Temchuk. The faculty advisor was Mary Ann Merryman.
The second place Valparaiso University team included Ni Cai, Shaunna Dangremond, Rachel Majercik and Lindsay Slavick. The faculty advisory was Marc LeClere.
