Save the Dunes holds annual meeting

MICHIGAN CITY – During the annual meeting of the Save the Dunes Council, long-time board member Charlotte Read announced her retirement. She was the organization’s first executive director.

“Charlotte Read is a legend in the environmental community in Northwest Indiana,” said Executive Director Nicole Barker. “She and her husband Herb have accomplished more for the region than can be imagined; we are most grateful to them.”

Also at the meeting five new board members were elected. They were Paul Labus of Whiting, Northwest Indiana director of the Nature Conservancy; Sandra Rodriguez, Gary, an organizer of the Miller Farmers Market; Bart Mosier, Chicago, a grants analyst for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Kathryn Matthew, Portage, Purdue University North Central; and Ryan Strode, Cedar Lake, senior advisor for Arabella Advisors.
