WESTVILLE – Carin Chuang, an assistant professor of computer and information technology at Purdue University North Central, has earned an Indiana Campus Compact Scholarship of Engagement Grant. It will allow Chuang and students in her systems analysis and design methods class to partner with the Westville Area Chamber of Commerce to develop a new information system.
During the project students will take on the role of system analyst and work through the five phases of system development – planning, analysis, design, implementation and maintenance. At the same time, students will study the needs of the chamber office to determine how people, methods and information technology can best be combined to improve the Westville Chamber’s business functions.
Chuang said the project promotes student learning and provides them an opportunity to understand community issues and improves their confidence in their information technology career path.
