Opportunity Enterprises’ Simply Amazing Market is centralizing its retail sales to its factory store in Valparaiso.
The nonprofit that works to enrich the lives of those with disabilities said it has made recent connections with national food sales leaders. That focus on growing production led to the decision to consolidate sales from the Valparaiso Meijer to the 2801 Evans Ave. location.
As the brand grows, the organization's goal is to hire more staff. All employees, 70% of whom have a documented disability, were transitioned to the factory store. Opportunity Enterprise focuses on hiring people of all abilities.
The market began in 2007 in a small fudge kitchen at Opportunity Enterprises. It continues to hand craft fudge, gourmet popcorn and glazed nuts. Products also are on sale on the market's website.
Opportunity Enterprises was founded in 1967 to help those with developmental disabilities maximize life-enriching opportunities. In 2021, OE helped 1,400 families and trained more than 100 clients for employment, according to its 2021 annual report.
