The Northwest Indiana Forum promoted Spencer Summers to economic development director.
In his new role, he will build on his marketing responsibilities by expanding relationships with local economic development organizations to find more regional investment opportunities.
“(Spencer's) willingness to work collaboratively and learn new skills will continue to help Northwest Indiana thrive,” said Heather Ennis, president and CEO of the NWI Forum, in a press release. “We look forward to the strong relationships that will grow as he moves into this new role.”
Ennis said the John W. Anderson Foundation as well as READI funds helped make the position possible. The goal of the position is to focus on lead generation and site preparation.
Spencer was hired in June 2022 as the NWI Forum's marketing coordinator. Before that, he worked as the basketball league director for The Courts of Northwest Indiana in Valparaiso for three years. He earned two bachelor's degrees from Purdue University Northwest in business management and human resources. He also is pursing an MBA in information systems and business analytics from Purdue.
The NWI Forum supports economic growth and innovation through contributions and grants in the seven counties that make up Northwest Indiana.
