WEST LAFAYETTE – The Purdue University Cooperative Agriculture Extension Office has announced that a group of rural communities and banks in Porter, LaPorte, Jasper and Starke counties will take part in the federal Stronger Economies Together program.
The banks and communities will be working to create programs and support businesses involved in tourism and manufacturing. The program begins this fall and will continue for a year.
The program will provide training and technical assistance on how to enhance regional development and identify assets. USDA Rural Development is the lead federal agency overseeing the program.
Also supporting the effort is the Association of Indiana Counties, Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, Indiana Association of Regional Councils, Indiana Economic Development Association, Indiana Grantmakers Alliance, Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and Indiana Planning Association.
