More than 1,000 volunteers turned out for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring event Aug. 10. Volunteers spent time on everything from beautification projects to collection drives.
The program is billed as the largest single-day volunteer event in Northwest Indiana, according to the United Way of Porter County, which coordinated volunteers, connecting them with projects around the Region.
“We cannot thank our volunteers enough for jumping in to help us and our partners with these extra projects,” said Kim Olesker, president and CEO of United Way of Porter County.
More than 34 nonprofits across the Region were supported by the effort. The 62 projects included landscaping, painting, building, hosting client picnics and collection drives.
