SOUTH BEND – Memorial Hospital’s “Diabeticos Saludables: Sweet Success in the Fight Against Diabetes,” is among 10 programs from across the country named a Program of Excellence by the Hospital Charitable Service Awards.

Diabeticos Saludables is a program of Memorial’s Community Health Enhancement division. It is a multifaceted, culturally appropriate, education and case management program for people with Type II Diabetes. It serves more than 300 residents who experience the greatest disparities in health status and access to care.

The program was chosen by Jackson Healthcare in Atlanta, which uses them to cultivate a community of charitable hospital programs to encourage hospitals to learn from each other.
