Land is focus of economic development panel

            PORTAGE – The Northwest Indiana Forum and the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission will host “Putting the Pieces Together: The Importance of Land Assembly in Economic Development” from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Forum/NIRPC Auditorium.

            The program is designed for county/city/town planners, economic development professionals, redevelopment commissions and others interested in the legal, economic and environmental aspects of putting a land package together.

            There will be a presentation by Tim Healy of Holladay Properties, the developer of Ameriplex at the Crossroad in Merrillville, Ameriplex at the Port in Portage and the new LifeWorks Business Park that’s under development in Michigan City.

            Panelists are Charles Weaver of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation; Matt Reardon of Short Elliot & Hendrickson; Tim Gropp of Greater LaPorte Economic Development Corp.; and Jennifer Whaley, Newton County Economic Development.
