Indiana manufacturers have an optimistic outlook on their sector’s future.

The latest survey of Indiana Manufacturers Association members revealed most respondents, said they were very optimistic about their economic outlook for the next six to 12 months. About 64% of respondents said they either were optimistic or very optimistic about the next 18 to 24 months.

The results of the association’s May survey found 50% of respondents were generally optimistic about the long-term health of their business.

“Manufacturers' optimism remains high even as they make changes to their businesses to protect the health of employees,” said Brian Burton, IMA president and CEO.

The survey, conducted in June and completed by 94 people, measured the trends in manufacturers’ outlook and focused on the various methods employed by manufacturers to protect workers and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The survey found 82% of respondents altered production operations, while 67% allowed non-production staff to continue working from home and 61% performed temperature checks prior to the start of work.
