Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana donated $25,000 to the Salvation Army of Lake County Indiana.

Matt Schuffert, president of Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana and Michael Gaudreau, vice president of casino operations, presented Amanda Keene, corps officer in charge of the Gary-Merrillville Community Center with a ceremonial oversized check.

The funds will support programs and services provided by the community center. Gaudreau recently joined the Salvation Army of Lake County’s Advisory Board.

“Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana is committed to helping The Salvation Army of Lake County provide assistance to individuals and families who are in need,” Schuffert said. “We are very proud to partner with them and support the great work that they do.”

Captain Brian Clark, coordinator of The Salvation Army of Lake County said the funds will go a long way to assist the organization provide services to people in need across the Region.   

The Gary-Merrillville Corps Community Center provides rent, utilities and food assistance to those who are at risk of homelessness and hunger. The center also provides summer and after-school programs for children, youth activities, as well as support services for women and seniors.

The pandemic placed added strain on many of the Region’s community organizations. Services provided by the Salvation Army saw usage increase between 300% and 500% during the crisis.
