Griffith-based Bulkmatic has launched a new business unit focused on providing dry bulk supply chain solutions.
A statement from the company said Bulkmatic Solutions was launched in-house following the launch of the Dry Bulk FR8 joint venture with Bulk FR8 of Seattle announced in January. Bulkmatic Solutions will be led by Ben Caplenor, who has more than 20 years of logistics experience.
Bulkmatic Solutions will offer shippers capacity alternatives for contractual and spot dry bulk transportation needs.
“Throughout 2020, we saw a strong business case for the value of dry bulk brokerage and logistics solutions through our Dry Bulk FR8 joint venture,” said Chris Kravas, president of Bulkmatic. “That project was a highly successful proof of concept and as a result we’ve decided to go forward with an exclusively Bulkmatic company – Bulkmatic Solutions.”
Bulkmatic was founded in 1965 and has 800 employees. The company operates a fleet of more than 500 tractors and 1,400 pneumatic dry bulk trailers located at terminals around the country.
