Goodwill Excel centers in Hammond, Gary name new directors

Goodwill LEADS Inc. has named directors for its Excel centers in Hammond and Gary.

David Plesac

David Plesac was named director in Hammond, and Theresa Knipe was named director in Gary.

Plesac previously served as director of adult education at New Vistas High School in Portage. He earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Purdue Calumet.

Plesac, who also spent 15 years in the financial industry, also served as assistant principal at New Vistas and dean of students at Fegely Middle School in Portage.

Theresa Knipe

Knipe previously served as lead teacher for Goodwill’s Excel Center in Hammond. She spent 13 years with the School City of Hammond in various capacities, including teaching in the science department, working on the data team, handling instructional coach duties and serving as department chair. 

The Excel Center is a free, public high school serving students 18 and older with year-round accelerated classes. The center operates as part of Goodwill LEADS (Learn, Educate, Advance, Develop, Students) Inc., a non-profit entity affiliated with Goodwill Industries of Michiana Inc.
